Disparity in health, wellbeing, and social factors across different groups in Suffolk

Inequalities in Suffolk are affected by issues from socioeconomic factors to specific health conditions and demographic characteristics.

Suffolk statistics are compared to England where possible. Smaller areas of Suffolk are contrasted with the whole county.

Employment, economy and skills (Suffolk summary) - compares with Suffolk districts and boroughs, and with the East of England where possible.

The Health inequalities dashboard gives examples of inequalities and their impacts before showing differences between age groups and smaller areas.

Health (Suffolk summary) includes measures for wider determinants of health and health behaviours at county, district and borough levels.

Gypsy, Roma and Traveller health needs assessment (2023) - created with engagement from the communities. These communities are known to face some of the severest inequalities in health and care access and outcomes.  

Mental health needs assessment (2023) - with a specific chapter on the mental health of veterans. 

Smoking and vaping health needs assessment (2024) - assessment and appendices containing general information on the impact and prevalence of smoking and vaping, as well as local target population groups including the homeless, prisoners, LGBTQ+.
