What Good Health at Work Means for Your Business
Healthy businesses need healthy employees.
An estimated 1.8 to 2.1 million working days were lost to sickness absence in Suffolk in 2022, equating to approximately £432 million of lost productivity. Mental health and financial wellbeing are common issues in Suffolk workforces, with in-work poverty an increasing challenge.
Research shows that Good Work can improve health and wellbeing, reduce poverty, support stronger economies, and help build more inclusive communities.
Having ‘good work’ means work that provides fair and equal opportunities, provides a fair income, security in the workplace, prospects for personal development and the ability to foster good social relationships with colleagues.
Through Suffolk’s Good Health at Work Programme, businesses will have access to support, guidance and services that impact positively on the health and well-being of their employees. In turn we expect they will see a reduction in sickness absence, higher staff retention and a happier more productive workforce.
