This Report's Recommendations
An action plan will be developed with partner organisations and the community where defined actions will be made under each recommendation.
- Put Health Inequalities At The Heart of What We Do
- Suffolk needs to put health inequalities at the heart of what we do and strengthen our approach to health outcomes for everyone in our community – finding ways to reduce the gaps, in a fair and balanced way.
- Active Community Participation
- The best way to reduce inequalities is by involving communities, and to always build in active community participation.
- Improve Local Data
- The way we collect, use and link relevant data about health inequalities needs to be improved in Suffolk to inform evidence based approaches that will have an impact.
- Measure and Review Progress
- Managing health inequalities is continual, so we need to regularly measure and review progress and recognise the changes we are making need to be maintained for the long term.

Supporting resources
We have made a commitment to change to reduce health inequalities in Suffolk. This section provides a series of supporting resources designed to create a culture in Suffolk where we work better with you.
One of the biggest elements that is key to reducing health inequalities is co-production. Co-production can have a many different meanings depending on the project or approach to an area of work. Take a look at this video taken from the Thinking Different Together Event with the Integrated Care system in Suffolk looking at Co-production and the importance of committing to this change. To find out more about co-production, you can take a look at Healthwatch Suffolk's co-production resources.
You may be thinking where do I start or how do I design a piece of work that includes co-production from the very start to the very end.
- Together with partners, Public Health have developed a Toolkit which can be used to support local action to address and reduce health inequalities. The toolkit has been shaped using the best available evidence of what works to reduce health inequalities. It has been reviewed and developed with a range of people living and working in Suffolk.
- Public Health in collaboration with the community and partner organisations produced a series of webinars looking at some of the steps organisations can do to make a small difference (which all add up to make a bigger difference!). They're linked under Related content on this page.
